Rita Novikaite was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. She studied on the Lithuanian Music and Theatre - Academy in Vilnius. She gained Master of Art at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria. She also studied at the Academia Verdiana della Fondazione Arthuro Toscanini in Italy.
2005-2011 Rita Novikaite taught at the Art and Music University of Graz. She is associate professor at the Prayner Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna and at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. Rita gives singing-master classes.
She frequently enjoys being in concerts and festivals in Lithuania, Austria, Germany, England, Italy, France and Belgium.
She has reprised the roles of Marzellina in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), the titel role in Carmen (Bizet Carmen), Magdalena in Rigoletto (Verdi), Bogumil in The Beggar Student (Millöcker), Prince Orlowsky in Die Fledermaus (Strauss), Zuleika in Fatinitza (von Suppe), Juditha in Juditha Triumphans (Vivaldi), Mother in The Consul (Menotti) playing on stages in Lithuania Austria and Italy.
Rita’s repertoire also includes Lieder, chamber music and oratorios: Stabat Mater (Dvorak/ Pergolesi/ Rossini/ Vivaldi), Requiem (Mozart/ Verdi), Te Deum (Bruckner), Missa Solemnis and IX Symphonie (Beethoven), Messiah (Handel), Christus (Liszt) etc.
She sang mezzo soprano on CDs of Gloria (Vivaldi), Requiem (Mozart), Missa Solemnis (Beethoven) and Fatinitza (von Suppe). She has also recorded solo CDs Christmas Carols, November Dreams, and an opera arias album Nel Contrasto.
Her recordings are frequently played on national radio both in Lithuania and in Austria
